Special #9: Quiz Game!

Come join Carly, Heidi, and Jen and pit yourself against some crazy Takarazuka song trivia!

Can you name the singer, year, show and (toughest of all) song title? All are from Grand Theater shows from 2000-2017, sung by the top star.

Don’t be shy, let us know how you did in the comments!

Final score was..... *drumroll* ....

(Don’t cheat… but if you must, here are the answers.)

If you have any ideas for other games we can play on the podcast, please let us know!

PS – This ep is PG-13 for mild cussing. ;D

  1. This was tons of fun!!! I *live* for song guessing games, so I immediately jumped on this. I got 58 points!
You should definitely do it again, I would be here for both a musumeyaku and a revue version!

    1. Wow, that’s impressive! 68 is the highest possible number of points, so you did an amazing job!

I will definitely try to get another game organized in the future. It was a lot of fun, so I’d like to play the next round.

  2. This was really fun! I enjoyed cleaning my room while listening to this as a good way to pass the time. Since I was doing that though I forgot to keep track of how many points I got, (^_^)’ but I definitely guessed more singers and shows correctly than anything else (and I did get Sou Kazuho’s). Not sure if I got any of the songs though, sadly.

I would definitely be up for another round of the quiz game! Musumeyaku or Revue!

    1. Yay! Glad you enjoyed it! I also love listening to podcasts while doing things like cleaning and cooking, so I’m so happy to hear this little podcast is being useful. 🙂

  3. As a fairly new fan I am very proud of my 27 points (plus two times half a point because I had part of the title correct. XD)!
I was especially psyched when I got no. 5 right and even the last one somehow! Aaah this was super fun, I hope you’ll do it again sometime!

    1. Wow, that is really impressive! I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’d do very well myself because my memory is terrible. XD

      Glad you had fun!

  4. Ok, this was so much fun! Excluding the practice run, I got 49! Wasn’t expecting to do that well, early 2000s wasn’t really my strong point when it comes to Zuka knowledge! XD Can’t wait for the next game you come up with! Great job as always!

(On a side note, the only thing worth watching Rio de Bravo!! for is the SHEER INSANITY of that show. I mean, there’s a plane and then the plane becomes JESUS. I mean, I’m from Rio and I think that show is a tad much, even if its DVD is sitting pretty in my collection XD)

    1. Neat! Thanks so much for letting us know what you thought of it!

Wow…. Rio de Bravo sounds very, very … Takarazuka-ish. XDXD

  5. I got 33! (early 2000s are so hard, but I do recognized most of the singers!) I love the banter and all the ‘–er’ XD it was so much fun, definitely agree for more of this please!

    1. Hahah, glad you enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun listening to them play, wasn’t it? Glad I’m not the only one who was entertained. XD

  6. I got 35 points, and somehow got full points on 2 questions (although if Carly had had her way I would have gotten a bonus point on one of them for the parenthetical title, hahaha). There were a lot of really recognizable singers on here, good picks! I would also love to play this again with musumeyaku or revue songs! Thanks for the fun time!

    1. Wow, you got both parts of the song title too? Now I feel like maybe Carly was right and there should have been a bonus point there. 😉

Thank you so much for your feedback!

  7. 8 points but I’m happy since I’m a new fan. Luckily the only top star I know well was included and it’s impossible to forget the distinctive voices of Yuzuki Reon and Mizu Natsuki.

  8. I was surprised how many answers I knew. I knew most of the singers, shows, and years but no song titles at all. Never bothered to learn any of the titles.

    1. Awesome! Glad you knew so many. I’m not so surprised! You work so hard spreading the joy; you’ve absorbed the knowledge along the way. 😉 😉

  9. Woo, I got 53!! Or 52.5 if you dock me half a point because I wrote “Kimi wa Magnolia no Hana” instead of “Gotoku”. If you’re lenient on that one, then I get full points for both Kaname’s and Wao’s songs, and the title was the only thing I didn’t know for Zunko. Soragumi~ <33333

This was really super fun. I agree with what you guys said at the end -- there should be a point for troupe and maybe an extra point for song title. Even shows I know really well I don't always know the song titles (and with in-house written shows, the songs can be really forgettable...)

Can't wait for the next one! ;D

  10. I’ve actually only been an official Zuka fan for just over 3 months, so even though I’ve watched a fair number of (mostly Soragumi) shows in that short time, I really didn’t think I would know a single one of these answers. But I got 3/4 points on the practice round… because I binged all the Elisabeths last month lol, and Mizu was my favorite Der Tod, (just was wrong on the year), and I got 4 points during the actual game! (although the only reason I knew Scarlet Pimpernel/Piece of Courage was because Maa-kun sings it in A Motion, and I’ve watched that dvd several times in the last 2 -3 weeks haha, and made a playlist of the songs! I also guessed correctly singers Asumi Rio and Wao Youka! Thanks for doing this, it was super fun, and I’d definitely love to hear more of these, especially one for revues!
Also I very much enjoy the podcasts in general, and if you ever want a perspective or thoughts from a VERY new fan, or a non-Japanese speaking fan, I’d love to join on a recording sometime! Thank you! <333

  11. This episode was so much fun ! Got 37 , I think that’s not bad but I had hard time remembering song titles….
Congratulations everybody on your nice scores 😉
You should definitely make other episodes like this one in the future! Revue (if not theme song of course) and musumeyaku seems quite hard but worth giving a try. Though I would be ok with another episode like this one with lead otokoyaku too.
Thank you for the good time !

  12. Very very late, but I finally managed to do this. I had a lot of fun and did much better than expected because most of it was not recent. I scored 39. But yeah, what are song titles XD
    Thanks for the great entertainment!
Now do a revue themed one, please.

    1. Oooh, Revue-themed! That’s a good idea! Although so often the names of the revues are in the song lyrics, so it might be a little TOO easy! XD
